Updating my plugin version....

I need to update the plugin I have in the downloads section. How do I go about that? Do I delete the old "post", or is there someway to just upload a new file? Do I do that via "add"?

Excellent query, and a huge problem with these boards. I would suggest a new thread. That way the older version users still have their conversation but it doesn't get all confusing with the new version users.

Check the webserver, dynamic menus and CommSkip threads. It's just too difficult for new users to get where they want to be as many pages in the middle have little to do with the current status.

I may not have phrased that correctly....

It's not a discussion thread about a plugin that I need to change, it's the literal plugin download that I need to update. In the Downloads forum, where people can download my .jar file....I need to change the .jar available there.

Maybe that's what you mean, I wasn't aware that there might be a discussion forum there also.

Ok, I tried the "edit" button, and that appears to have done it. Before, it prompted me to "ADD" a file, which I didn't want to do...but the added file seems to merely overwrite the file that was offered before, which is what I wanted.

I don't know how I missed this earlier today... all I can do now is confirm that yes, you would edit your download, then use the Add File option to upload the new file.

There used to be issues updating the download. This shouldn't be a problem any more, but I still suggest downloading the file to double check that it really is the new one you uploaded.

Ya, I clicked Download, and the name of the file was the one I had just uploaded.

It would be nice if there was an additional option to sort the downloads based on the date the latest file was uploaded.

There are a number of downloads that have been around for a long time and had numerous updates, but they end up many pages into the downloads section because they are sorted by when the download was first added.

Yeah, that would be good... maybe it will be a feature of the next version of that forum plugin.

Optionally there should be an existing plugin which basically makes the thread starter a moderator of that thread. This way the developer could do whatever they needed in their threads. Few know more about what needs doing then the developer, and then you need to have to.
