I am having problems playing files on my MVP recorded with my DVB card. I can play files recorded with my PVR150 just fine but the DVB card just shows a black screen and shows the play bar along bottom moving.
I have two cards in my server, one is a PVR150, has worked perfectly for the last year plus, no problems playing on a wired MVP. I added a Nexus-S dvb card and am not able to playback anything, live TV and recorded TV both give the same result. When I select to watch a show, the screen changes to black, the timer starts to count up and everything seems to work as if the file was playing, but I get no video or audio. If I play the same file on either the server or a client it plays back just fine. Any ideas?

Try using GSpot to give you full information on one of the files, see if there's something weird about it.
Post your .properties file.

Which .properties file should I post? Just the sage.properties file?
I checked the files with Gspot and didn't see anything that different. The only thing that I noticed between a show recorded with my PVR-150 and the Nexus-s was a difference in the bit rate. I'll double check the files when I get a chance and see what else I notice.

UPDATE
Here is what I can see in GSpot for the files recorded with the PVR-150 Audio 48000Hz 384 kb/s tot, Stereo Video 720x480 sar=1.5(3:2) par=0.889(8:9) dar=1.333 (4:3) Codec MPEG2 This is what I get with the DVB-S Card Audio 48000Hz 192 kb/s tot, Stereo Video 528x480 sar=1.1(11:10) par=1.212(~17:14) dar=1.333 (4:3) Codec MPEG2 The only things I see are the audio bit rate and the pixel size of the video.

Hi vividweb, I replied to your post on the DVBDream network encoder forum before I noticed this one here. I don't have any problems playing on my MVP.
What version of SageTV are you running? John |

I am using 6.1.9. I didn't have any problems with playback using MT, but can't seem to get it to work with DD.
What about playing live TV? Any problems with that? I wonder if my problem is more channel specific, I'll try a few different channels and see what happens.

No luck tonight. My MVP definitely won't play anything recorded or live through my MVP.

Post sage.properties from the server, and turn on debug messages and post the part of the log where it starts to play...

I'll post them later on today.
I have had debugging turned on for a while and I have tried to find any error that appears in the log, but to me it seems the same whether it is really playing a file or whether it is showing a black screen. Thanks

It's the same for both MVPs?

I believe so. The second MVP doesn't get used a whole lot, but I did do some tests and got the same results. The only thing that bugs me about it though is that I haven't received any complaints that the second MVP isn't working. I need to test it a little more thoroughly again tonight.
