Is there a way to use images for the OSD?

Right now the OSD's used in the default Sage theme, SageMC, and pretty much all .stv's I have seen are pretty simple and use mostly basic DirectDraw graphics to create the overlays used for the onscreen graphics.

Is it possible to create a more complex OSD using images created in other graphics programs?? Perhaps even make it so they are skinnable ala the SageMC themes that are available?? If so, I would love to see something like this integrated into SageMC, it seems to be the one area that SageMC is lacking in the beauty dept.

Something like these:

Wow. I really like the fourth and fifth pictures. Probably the fourth one the most though. That would be a nice enhancement.

Not sure what you mean by "DirectDraw" graphics, AFAIK, Sage builds it's UI in much the same way as any other app.

BTW, have you seen this:

The OSD is not themed yet & won't be until it gets overhauled. This won't be done for v6.2.

I think you misunderstood... I am talking about the OSD when viewing Video. The popups that show the timeline, video info, etc. It is all mostly drawn with graphic overlays using geometric and color definitions, not using images saved on the computer. Although, there are a few things (channel icons, etc.) that are displayed here that tells me its capable of more... but it is sooooo basic compared to the competition and the rest of its own UI even.

Some Feedback

Having coming from mediaportal to sage and having used the themes the OP linked to in his post, I have to say I much prefer the current sage OSDs (esp the SageMC one).

The sage ones are clean, easy to read at a glance and are not overly complicated. The MP themes in question are a bit "over-engineered" in my opinion and a bit too cluttered/fancy to be really useful for a PVR type system such as sage.

Just my 2 cents.

However, the answer to the original question:

is yes. You can make any style OSD you like using Sage Studio, using scaled images for the timebar if you so wish...
