Elecard Decoder question

Is the Elecard decoder a time-limited trial?
I just fired up my HTPC (it's been off for a few days) and there's a cluster of pixels dancing around my screen like a bug... switching to Intervideo fixes it..

When I grabbed the Elecard decoder, I did a Google search for it, and it took me straight to the download page (which it seems is no longer directly accessible via their site) - did I miss the part that said 'time-limited'?

Sorry for the dumb question..

The Elecard decoder has a 30 day free trial. After that you need to purchase their player (or get used to the scrolling text at the bottom and the dancing squares). You can go here www.elecard.com/download/ and select the buy now option. I think the Elecard decoder plus DScaler gives the best PQ, but YMMV.

Thanks for the sanity check.. I've found that for my setup, Elecard/Dscaler gave me the best PQ also... for $20, it's probably worth it.

The dancing squares really freaked me out.

One more question...

to get the decoder now - do I need to buy their MPEG player software? The site does not seem to offer the decoder by itself anymore - only the player software (which, I would assume, includes the codec)

Thanks!

That's what I did. I couldn't find anywhere to just purchase the decoder, so I went with the player software.

Thanks - should I order it right from their site? Do they just email me a reg key or something?

I purchased it directly from their site. They E-mailed me a link and a username/password to download the registered version of the software.
