What could "No Signal" really mean?

I have used SageTV for three years with a Hauppauge 150 and it has worked great. I upgraded to Sage 6 and the card worked fine for a couple of days, then I installed new drivers for the 150. When I use WinTV, I see the signal (from Dish Network.) But, when I use SageTV, now I get the message "No Signal". I know there is a signal, but because when I view S-Video in WinTV, it plays, while S-Video in SageTV does not. It sees the card, but it will not show anything in it.

Question: what does "No Signal" really mean? The 150 is sending a signal, so what are some reasons SageTV might not see it? Any overlay problems, etc?

Thanks for any help...

I don't know what all cases of the "No Signal" message means but I have been often caught out by that message suddenly appearing for no particular reason whre WinTV continues to work.

In all cases, the reason was that the drives to which Sage records programmes off air were all full up. Instead of giving a message to that effect, it defaults to "No Signal".

Hope that helps

John

John, you are a genius! That is exactly what it was and I did not notice it.

I am a little surprised that the error reporting isn't any better than that. Since when would you suspect the "No Signal" means "Full Hard Drive"!

Doesn't matter - it is still a great program. Thanks for the help.

I suggest you send a report to SageTV about the error message when disk space is full.

SageTV expects to be able to delete _something_ when space is needed for a new recording, so it can't do much if everything is a manual recording or a non-auto delete Favorite.
