Experience with QAM in 6.2.6

I know people were still having issues with scanning and setting up QAM in 6.2.5. It looks like the new 6.2.6 beta has some scanning fixes/improvements. Has anyone had any luck with setting up QAM in 6.2.6? I'm still debating whether I try to set this up for my HDHomeRun.

I set it up and scanned last night. It stopped scanning at Ch 125 vs 200 before, but the extra 75 had no channels on it found. Using the cache file skipped over most the active channels when doing a rescan - if setup right it would speed it up.

It does seem a bit more senitive on the scans, as i get fewer channels - NBC and FOX mainly, and NBC always came in when scanned w/ 6.2.5.

I would like to combine my .frq files for one lineup - not sure if just as easy as combining in notepad and saving. But i somehow lost my .frq scan file from 6.2.5 w/ NBC and FOX on it, so will have to look for them (anyone have the .frq lines for these channels from Cablevision in Fairfield Cty?).

I am not sure about some of the other QAM enhancements, but hope to learn.

Does the QAM channel scan implimentation work with the HDhomerun or is it only for the HVR-1600?

QAM Scan channel

if you know all clear QAM frequencies in your cable, create a predefinedQAM.frq file in sagetv folder to put in frequence data in format such as

CH:5 frq:77250000
CH:6 frq:50125000
...

that saves scanning time. a trick.

So.... just to see if I'm understanding this right:

QAM support has been added to SageTV for certain QAM-capable cards. Specifically, the HVR-1600?

When installing the HVR-1600 into a 6.2.4 system, it shows up as two separate devices:
- Hauppauge WinTV 418 Video Capture
- Hauppauge WinTV 418 TS Capture

I currently have both the digital(OTA) and analog tuners set up in 6.2.4 using the "418 Video Capture". If I am to upgrade to 6.2.6 to try out QAM, do I select the "Video" or "TS" capture? And is that really it? Do I select my cable provider for the source and somehow then scan??

Thanks,
Jay

Make sure you also have the latest driver for the HVR-1600. There are also 2 versions of the HVR-1600 and only one does clear QAM. Look here to see if your works. http://hauppauge.com/pages/support/support_hvr1600.html
You want to use the WinTV 418 TS Capture for the QAM/Digital channels and the WinTV 418 Video Capture for the regular analog channels.

Oh, and yes you pick cable, your providers digital lineup and it will ask you to scan for digital channels.
