Corrupt Wiz.bin Question
I have Windows backup my Wiz.bin and Wiz.bak files every night. This morning, after a Windows update to my machine which forced an automatic reboot, my Wiz.bin file was corrupt. Sage tried to automatically switch to the Wiz.bak file, but reported that it too was corrupt and created a brand new one.
I stopped sage and disconnected my MVPs and removed all of the Wiz*.* files from the directory and restored the previous night's Wiz.bin and Wiz.bak using the Windows backup utility. Unfortunately, when I started Sage again, it went through the same routine of indicating the Wiz.bin was corrupt, attempting to restore the Wiz.bak and finally creating a new Wiz.bin. I didn't have a lot of time to work with this as I had to head out to work, but I tried once more with the backup Windows made from two nights ago with the same problem. Am I missing something else, or am I attempting to restore the Wiz.bin incorrectly? Windows actually makes incremental backups of the entire Sage directory every night, so if I also need to restore something besides the Wiz.bin and Wiz.bak, I can. This happened to me last month when the Windows Update installed updates and rebooted as well, but I did not have backups then . Unfortunately, it seems that the backups aren't working as I expected. I have thought about shutting everything down, restoring the Wiz.bin and installing the Beta on top of v6.1.9 that I am running now. Isn't that supposed to import the Wiz.bin? Would this work for me? Any other suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! I hate having to rework all of my favorites and such. Not to mention the fact that all of the "watched" and "don't like" information is missing... |

I'm not sure why the wiz.bin backups would also be corrupt... maybe they just happened to be copied while SageTV was writing to them. Have you tried restoring an old wiz.bak as wiz.bin?
I don't know if the debug log would have more info about why it is seen as corrupt, but you could try that. And, wiz.bin problems should be reported to SageTV. Try restoring the old sage.properties file too, at the same time. - Andy
