SageTV will not transmit ZERO via USB-UIRT

I have recieved my UIRT in mail today and it was easy to set up for remote control I am using but setting it up to change the sat box is somewhat a struggle.

I have tried every method and I think there some serious bug in the transmit part of the SageTV remote feature to change the channel on STB boxes.

It will change all channels fine unless the channel have a zero in it's number then it just won't transmit zero to the STB like channel 304 will send 34 but channel 344 will send 344.

It learned zero with ok status but still won't transmit it and I notice when ever it fails to send zero it get deleted from remote list so all I see remaining is 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 listed and I have to relearn zero back in and it would only get deleted by itself again.

Another thing I notice it does not write the zero back to .ir file and sometime it will not allow me to change the remote control millisecond default at 600 then I would try to change it to 200ms and it would change then reversed back to 600ms later on again. Then I would go back to try to change it to 200ms again and it refuse to save it at 200 until I exit and go back again then it would finally save it but only later to reverse it back.

I will try removing video source and starting all over again to see if there any improvement.

I removed video source a couple of time and readd a new one but same result.

STB will pick up the zero transmit when I am clicking on the zero in Test Infrared Code but the channel guide does not transmit it and is skipping or ignoring zeros but transmit all other numbers with no problems.

What kind of satellite box do you have?

I used to have Dish Network and a JVC-301.

I found the IRHELPER program to be very helpful to getting the USB-UIRT to work correctly. I ended up modifying my IR file a bit to get it to work correctly.

I am attaching the IRHELPER, a stand alone program that will tell you what your USB-UIRT is receving from your remote control. I have also included my JVC301.IR file.

It is a Dish Network sat box

Your JVC IR file worked so I compare my IR and your JVC IR code file and all the IR event code in both is the same but there is 1 difference in the files is that on your JVC IR file you have a second line with "RepeatCount 5" which I do not have in mine IR file.

What is RepeatCount 5 and it seem to fix my "zero" issue.

Thanks for helping out and sharing your IR file. It working now!

Thank you
Bill

I haven't had to work on IR files in quite awhile. As I recall, I think the repeat count added delay. I believe that I tried adjusting the repeat count value to get my USB-UIRT to work with my Dish Network JVC 301 unit. I switched to Comcast cable about a year and a half ago and have a Motorola DCT2000 cable box. I might switch to satellite again, either Dish Network or DirecTV, then I will probably have to go through adjusting the IR file again.

If the USB-UIRT is not totally reliable, you might try adjusting the repeat count a bit.
