Weak Hauppauge Remote

My Hauppauge Remote range is really short ? it only has a range of 1 to 2 feet at the most

I have to point the Remote less then a foot away

for my HTPC to response.

Could the Hauppauge Remote be defective ? I know it can not be normal for a remote to be this weak in the range department ?

The Keyboard works just fine. I can operate the HTPC from anywhere

Do you have the IR receiver in a location with hith levels of interference? My Hauppauge remote works just fine at a distance of 25'. I have the receiver on top of the TV facing out toward the room. I have florescent lighting, but they are far enough away from the TV as to not cause any problems.
