Grouping options?

Although I like the new interface for recording, archived recordings, etc, I do still use the Malore menus as my interface for one primary reason: Movies are rolled up as a single grouping. Makes it a lot easier when scrolling through all of the TV shows, etc.

Is there an option that I'm missing that would group series by title name BUT also group Movies into a single folder?

Sort of... while there is no "movie" group, the new SageTV Recordings menu has a category bar between the recording list & the top info area. If you select the "Movie" option, it will list only movies.

If you have a hard time getting to the horizontal category bar, arrow left to the vertical icon bar & go up from there.

You can even have different sorting, grouping, & filtering options for each choice on the category bar -- it will remember your setting for each one.

Actually, shortly after I posted this here, I decided to file a feature request for this and other sorting questions. Someone from support and I have already bounced around a couple of ideas about a different way to approach this. As usual, I think about things differently than the Sage devs

I would rather keep the feature discussion of the default menus out of the hidden features topic, so since you have an existing thread on the topic...

I've seen your submission & think it would be better to sort the group list according to the grouping criteria, perhaps just with an option to sort in reverse order, and leave the sort option for the group contents. We'll see how it goes.

You can easily see just the movies by using the Movies view. I'm looking into an easier way to switch between the alternate views on the category bar.

What other options make the malore menus palatable? I do like the split view, but I could live without it.
I'm fairly sure that the default recordings menu won't be going 2-paned.

I had to explain this to the anonymous support person who responded to my email as well; it's NOT that I want to see my movies, it's that I don't want to scroll through a bunch of movies to get to a series folder. While having the movies on a separate view accomplishes the former, it doesn't help the latter.

For example, when I look at my list of recordings (with grouping turned on), I see:

Series folder
Series Folder
Movie Name
Movie Name
Movie Name
Movie Name
Series Folder
Series Folder
Movie Name
Movie Name
Movie Name
Movie Name
Series Folder --> the one I want to watch

What I like about the Malore menus is that all of the movies are reduced to a single line item, so I can find series without a lot of scrolling, ie.

Series folder
Series Folder
Movie Folder
Series Folder
Series Folder
Series Folder --> the one I want to watch

Another option would be to remove movies from the recording view altogether, and that would make the two views independent of one another.

I second this!!! I have 70+ movies recorded and with the Hidden menues they are conveniently grouped together like a series. It makes it MUCH easier to find other series that I want to watch versus the default STV. It would be great if the default STV would implement this feature...

And I third this!!! 124 movies makes this almost unworkable. I would like to see an option for either the previous behavior (Movies as a Series item) or a Movie-less view. I thought about asking for a Series-only view, but there are numerous one-off specials that aren't movies or series, things like the PBS 'Visions of ...' specials (Visions of Ireland, Visions of Scotland, Visions of Italy, etc).
