Lost several setup options w/ MVP

I replaced my STV for MVP with SageTV3.xml from SageTV3.stv, since that is supposed to be more recent and the correct one to use. When doing it on the server UI, I get all the proper setup options, but on the MVP it seems to be missing quite a few. Such as Video Source Setup. And many of the options that were there w/ the .stv no longer show in detailed setup, such as choice of remote control. Seems odd, anyone experience this?

Some things that aren't relevant won't be there -- for example: there is no choice for remote control. You use a Hauppauge compatible remote or nothing, since the MVP's receiver can't decode anything else. All remote config is done outside the MVP (i.e.: in your hands w/a custom remote or the Hauppauge remote.) However, the Commands tab will still have the options for linking, showing, or unlinking commands.

Thanks Andy. The video setup came back after a reboot - that had me worried. But on the remote, on the server i can see 34 button or 45 button + other options. I would like to do the same w/ MVP, since I actually use both-different locations. What is the default for the MVP? Also, if i remember correctly, re: remote config, i know we can link to customize, but wasnt there also some codes that can be added to the properties file that extend the functions - three or four digit numbers under ui/rc_mappings?

The default is to let you use either remote.

The only reason that choice is presented on the Windows UI is that irremote.ini from Hauppauge contains the same exact button codes for some buttons with different functions on those 2 remotes. So, SageTV has to know which one you are using to respond accordingly. This is not an issue on the MVP.

I'm not sure what you mean by extending the functions... you simply choose a command to link a button to & teach SageTV the remote button through the MVP's UI.

That was from a year ago, before SageTV's built-in MVP support was added.

Like I said above: the functionality for the Hauppauge remotes is built in. The only reason you would have to reassign buttons to other comamnds is if you want to change the button assignments or if you have a different remote that uses RC5 protocol IR codes using a different system code than either of the Haupppauge remotes.

I did a search and this seems to be the most relevant to what I wanted to
know. I am a complete newbie to this whole PVR thing. I have a Media MVP and Sagetv 4.1 and I am going to get the Sage MVP license. Am I correct
in what I have read that I can still use the remote that came from Hauppauge with the MVP?
