Graph for firewire recording to mpeg4

Hi all

I was playing around with the universal network encoder settings and I was wondering if anyone has any sense of whether this would be feasible. I was thinking that I'd run the second firewire output from my box to a second input on my computer, set up a second instance of sgraphrecorder and use it to record all of my SD channels to Xvid.

Does anyone have any experience with using graphedit for live transcoding? Can you point me to any resources on the subject? Any filters that work better for on the fly transcoding? I have to assume that x.264 is too resource intensive for on the fly recording.

Thanks
F
