I just picked up a WD 500 gig from NewEgg it's quiet and has free shipping!

I am planning on getting a few more for a future media server.

"Silent Fan less Design" Looks nice, but that baby will cook your drives.

Even though it's free after rebate no thanks.

Actually, I have a different version of this box holding an old 120gig hard drive. I use it for backups; I probably wouldn't recommend it for a file or application server. It does get warm, but with a single drive, the heat transfer is pretty good (very little heat gets trapped inside). Had it running for nearly 3 years now with no issue.

My first one one those I had to return after six month, the second died even earlier, that one I'll keep it around as a coaster, as a constant reminder..
