Channel Chaning with 1394
Hi Guys.
I have a HTPC with three tuner cards in it. I am attempting to get it to change the channels of the (comcast provided) Scientific Atlanta 3250HD Set Top Box via Firewire. I am running Windows XP SP2. I am attempting to follow this document http://home.comcast.net/~timmmoore/firewire/readme.htm THe problem I am having is that after I connect the firewire and the four items show up, and after I apply the driver for two of those four devices, my Device Manager has a yellow exclimanation over the Scientific Atlanta Tuner A/V Device as well as my AV/C Panel device. I looked why it has an exclimation and it says "Windows cannot start this device because it's configuration information (registry) is incomplete or damaged." Because of this I cannot have the CapDVHS.exe utility recognize my capture device. I have searched quite a bit and see other people have gotten this working with my exact same STB. What am I missing? Do I have the wrong drivers loaded? |

in up2ng's link, go to the hotlink for post #835, that pdf has the most current consolidated directions for setting up firewire. Page2 has the info to set up channel changing, and if you are lucky, you may even be able to do firewire capture of some to all channels via firewire in digital format, without even needing an analog capture card.

Shouldn't need Girder at all. The firewire tuning is pretty easy to set up, Sage just runs an executable when it needs to change the channel.

The document I am following is having me setup Graphedit and do a lot of other stuff.
I do not care about recording over my firewire, rather I just want to change channels with it. I am at the step of setting up Graphedit now and am having problems, can I skip this step if all I want is to change channels? I have tested and from a command line I can change channels on the STB over the firewire, using the channelw.exe. |

This is the thread I used to set mine up (which I think references the guide MeInMaui posted).
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14413 Post #6 in particular was helpful. Tim |
