Help with Realtek

I'm using Realtek onboard audio out with SPIF to my receiver. I tried to see what the latest level of drivers are for Realtek and basically could not figure it out...

Any body can help me understand what drivers to look for...please

Thank you,

Gary Ellis

You only have 2 choices. AC97 based or HD Audio which you will find on the newer motherboards. Unless it's a new board you probably want the AC97 software. That is version A4.00 dated 5/9/2007 except for Vista dated 6/28.
Realtek Audio drivers

Thank you..that's a big help...I have AC97....

Now that I am trying to play AC3 streams with DVD's and HD programming, is this a problem with the AC97? Do, I need to look at adding a sound card that might handle the better audio? Or does the AC97 handle it fine?

I have been having some intermittent audio problems..not bad, but annoying...They mostly occur when playing something with AC3 audio.

Thanks,

Gary Ellis

I'm using AC3 Filter on my one mb with the Realtek AC97 going analog out. No issues. I'll let you know what flavor (ALC660, 880, etc.) I have Realtek HD on the other mb.
