Realtek 8169 NIC driver update...

I have 3 Zonet ZEN3301E cards that use the Realtek 8169 chip. In diagnosing an ongoing network issue on my Sage Client PC, I installed the latest autoinstallation program(v663) from the website www.realtek.com.tw. only onto the client machine. After the installation, I had some odd issues.

My Sage client application would not connect to the Sage server (which also has this card, but I did not update the driver.

From the Client, I could not see files shared from my server. On another PC (with the same card - no driver update) I could see the files. Placeshifter continued to work from this other machine as well.

From the server, I COULD see files shared from the Client PC.

I was able to VNC into the Client PC. Using the internet from this machine was no problem.

Rolling back the drivers corrected all of these problems.

Just wanted to let you guys know about this issue in case anyone updated their nic drivers.

I sent an email to Realtek support and filed a tech support with Zonet.
