Sage and MB Chipsets

Hi,

Long time Sage user here, about to get a new system.
Is one based on the Intel 975X Express okay?

Thanks,

Simon.

Should be. Most anything works with Sage from a MB perspective. You might want to pay attention to audio on the MB if you intend to use it to output sound.

But it's a little long in tooth - why did you pick that chipset? The new P35 is the fastest...

Thanks,
mike

Thanks.
I was trying to save the hours and hours that I normally spend researching a new PC purchase and buy a ready made from a trusted source, even if it was a little more money.

Looks like I was wrong!

The only chipsets I have seen warnings on are Via chipsets...lots of video streaming problems.

Yeah, the via and sis chipsets are the ones that most say to stear away from, however, I have used both a Via K8T motherboard and a Sis 735? chipset with Sage with no problems. I think the issues with those boards stem from older generations such as the VIA KT133 which was a great board (my AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.0 GHZ proc ran super fast) other than the flaky PCI. Just my .02 worth. As long as you stick to Intel, Nvidia and ATI (although there is some issue with hi speed USB devices on ATI) then you shouldn't have any PCI issues.
