cant play DVDs from my SAGE6

Hi,

I am using SAGE6.1.9 and only recently I started to watch DVDs directly from SAGE.
I was trying four discs.
All original (not burn, zone2 (Israel).
Only one was working with SAGE.
For the other three, it plays the DVD for two-three seconds, then hang (need to kill the process to recover it).

Very strange - by Windows Media player act the same, BUT Media Player classic works fine!!!
So I assume there is no HW problem with the DVD or the CD it self.

I tried playing the detailed settings - DVD.
Changing Video Decoder Filter from Default to VMR9 - not helpfull.
Tried changing all Video Decoder filters (have ATI MPEG Video Decoder, InterVideo NonCSSVideo decdoer for Hauppauge, SageTV MPEG Video Decoder and ffdshow MPEG-4video decoder)- not working either!

What else can I try?

Thanks,

Amit

I'd guess that none of those are DVD decoders capable of playing standard protected DVDs.. I know the Sage decoder isn't and the InterVideo NonCSS isn't either. Teh ffdshow says its for MPEG4, and I dunno about the ATI decoder.

I'd try the demo for nVIdia's purevideo DVD decoder, http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder.html , if it works, its $20 for the bronze version, or if you ahve a software DVD program, you could install that and maybe use its decoder, such as WinDVD or PowerDVD.

The fact that Windows Media Player doesn't work is that it uses the same decoders that Sage can, and the Media player Classic works because it has its own built-in decoders, that aren't available to Sage or WMP.

Not sure if it's the same issue, but I had a problem playing DVDs with 6.1.9 also. See this thread: http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=26039

When I upgraded to 6.2.4, my problem disappeared.
