DVD Playback Lock-Up on Server
I have searched, but not found the answer to this.
My setup is as follows: Server: Sage 6.1, recording to local D: drive, and 2 smb shares (on client machine). Imported video is on a 3rd machine (another smb share on LAN). Sage sees the files and plays the .avi files located here with no issues. However, when I try to start any DVD (ripped into DVD file structure with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders), it plays a few seconds at the beginning if it's an animated menu, then I get the spinning logo and it never comes out of that. I have to pull up task manager and end process to recover. If the menu is static, it locks up right away. DVD's work fine if I play them from the client machine. Could this be something with file access over the network or something? I haven't been successful in moving a DVD to the local machine to try yet, but will try to get this going. Any thoughts?

Is the server UI running on a secondary monitor using overlay? If so, I ran into a DVD decoder that wouldn't work that way, while other DVD decoders would. I had to use another decoder, use the primary monitor, or not use overlay.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I don't believe that's the issue (although it might still be a decoder problem), the server has only a primary output to the plasma TV.
I am using nVidia PureVideo (v223 I believe) on an 8500GT outputting over VGA to a plasma monitor. I am running in VMR9 (FSE).

Removed the java client and reinstalled Removed Intervideo DVD decoder and reinstalled Changed all the default decoders around, restarted Sage On a last ditch effort I uninstalled the Nvidia PureDecoder and didn't reinstall it. Now everything works again. Who knows. Shawn |

Well, it had nothing to do with the network. I had some DVDs local and they behaved the same.
I uninstalled all decoders, and used the Sage defaults, still same behavior. I installed v6.2.4 -- Problem disappeared! Everything works again. I reinstalled all codecs, and things are still running smoothly. I did switch decoders from PureVideo to the Cyberlink, because the PureVideo was having trouble with some stutter and break-up (including audio) on HD programs from HDHR.
