I'm unfamiliar with how IRC chat works, can I get there through AIM or MSN Messenger?

Not with AIM or MSN, sorry!
IRC is the original internet chatroom.. it's a little tricky to get set up, but not too terrible.

Download Mirc http://www.mirc.com/
that'll get you started.. connect to any IRC server on efnet http://www.efnet.org/

and join the #sagetv channel.

We had a handful drop in last night.. We'll set up another scheduled chat in a day or two.

Odd. I don't know anyone that's been K-Lined for a username on an efnet server. I know most servers have root@* K-lined. Where you IRCing as root? Efnet doesn't do global K-lines. So if one server K-Lines you, you should be able to connect to another one.

enable ident in mirc, and if you're using some type of nat interface, then forward port 113 udp from the gateway to the ip of the computer in question.

www.google.com

this is probably your problem..

FYI:

efnet has a java chat applet.. you dont _have_ to install a client

www.efnet.org click the webchat link

Its getting a ir blaster to work i have a mce usb remote with blaster outputs - a pvr-150 with a blaster cable - and a basic serial 9 pin blaster (for mythtv use etc)
First i have read http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?p=146080 6 times and can't get pased step1. I cp the EXETuner dll to every path i can think of and no matter the registry settings there is no option for StubDevice in eather my video sources or source details on any tuner/input.
Please excuse my lack of windows know-how as i have been a linux user for the past 10+ years the reason i bought the windows version for comskip and that plus both my tuners (a pvr150 and a pvr250) on cable (2-99) rock/work great.
thanks a ton

I have been a mythtv user for a long time but zap2it ... well lol so i decided to change and so far except for any ir blaster support i'm lovin' sagetv ... hell it plays downloaded video files that mythtv with xine didn't.
With mythtv adding a ir blaster was just adding a serial module to the kernel and cp'ing the ir data into a conf file and running a .pl script way way easy ... this windows stuff is way hard.
