What remote do you emulate??
I am figuring out girder slowly but surely. I am currently using an cheap learning universal All in 1 remote A streamzap in raw mode and girder, I need a good remote to emulate for sage that uses alot of the keys I would need. So I pose the question what remote do you emulate?

I'm emulating a Toshiba DVD Recorder Model #RD-XS37 on my Harmony remote (with a USB-UIRT). It has plenty of buttons for sage and then some. HTH

I've been using a Harmony 880 and use a Hitachi television as the remote for my HTPC. It provides IR from all of the buttons on the remote...
My setup my be different in that I use XLobby as my HTPC front end which receives the IR and uses send message commands to control sagetv indirectly.

You would then assign each remote button to a sage command either in Girder, HIP or within sage itself. Aloha, Mike

I use a Harmony as well (I think it's a 720) and I set mine to emulate an Onkyo receiver mainly because there were tons of commands available with the Onkyo. It was still a major PITA to map all of the SageTV commands, especially with the horrible Harmony software. I ended up creating a spreadsheet to map the SageTV commands to buttons on the Harmony which were then mapped to the Onkyo IR commands.

Oops, posted too soon.
Since yours isn't a Harmony, seems like the best bet is to emulate a DVR remote. Like Mike said, the goal would be to find a device that will result in unique IR commands from every button on your remote and map those to SageTV commands. The trick is going to be for you to then remember what you have mapped each button to when it's not visually apparent on the remote. |
