Import music playlists into sage
I thought that I could make a playlist in WMP, save it as either m3u or wpl format, stick it in the music folder and have sage play it.
Sage doesn't seem to recognize it though, is there a way to import playlists?

What you are doing should work just fine. Did you do a rescan?

I've tried the same thing and coudn't get it to work. I've also tried creating a play list in SageTV and then find it so I could duplicate it in a easier way. Meaning I've got a large play list that I'd like to use in SageTV but it's a real pain to creat it in SageTV. Where does it keep its own playlist?

New User Needs Help with M3U Playlist Import
I added a directory with my playlists as a music directory.
Then I did a media refresh. None of my m3u or txt playlists showed up, but my 3 xml playlists did. So thinking that SageTV must like xml playlists better, I created two additional xml playlists (exported from iTunes) into the same directory and did another refresh from SageTV. None of the new playlists showed up... Doesn't SageTV support m3u and txt playlists? Am I doing something wrong that it won't add the 2 new xml playlists? I'm running the latest SageTV Beta 6.3.157 and the standard UI. Thanks for the help, Brent |

Check your debug logs. Any problems with playlist import should be detailed there. (Debug logging is enabled by default in Beta builds.)
The most common issue I've seen is if you import a playlist from another machine via UNC path, but the playlist itself calls out music files by drive letter. If the Sage server can't see those drive letters (or can't access the files for any other reason), it can't import the playlist.

The playlists are located on a local drive so that shouldn't be a problem. |

sagetv_0.txt in your SageTV installation folder.

There are probably several log files in your SageTV folder. You want the one from the time you did the import (which may not be the most recent one). Logs typically contain lots of stuff that's not related to your specific problem. Try opening the log file in Notepad and searching for the name of your playlist file.
If you can't find the right log file, trying doing the import again.

Okay, finally got back to this problem.
Again, I'm attempting to import several m3u playlists and they just won't import. After reviewing the log file it seems SageTV thinks one of the mp3's in the playlist don't exist (or are missing), but they are there. I thought it might be a character that it is rejecting, but I can't seem to find one in the playlists that won't import vs. the ones that are importing. I did submit a bug report, but was wondering if anyone has any advice. Thanks, Here's the log file Quote:

And these songs all exist in this particular directory? C:\Media\Music
Looks like the last one is on a different drive and is a video? O:\Shows\Good Eats-(Stew Romance)-2007-08-25-0.mp4 Gerry

I went through and played each of the songs via SageTV in one of the playlists I'm trying to import just to be sure SageTV sees those mp3 files. |

Well we're several years later And I'm trying to import playlists again. Same problem, with same error. Here's the latest log entry from a failed playlist import into SageTV: Code:

After the latest update I deleted my imported playlists and rescanned the Library. It re-imported the m3u files that were working in v6 and everything appears to be working fine now.
There is also a Visualization now that I had not noticed before. I might give it a try with a playlist directly from Media Monkey that would not work before because it did not explicitly define the path. Anyone else got this working in v7. Update: No go on Media Monkey m3u but a WMP export of to m3u work just fine. Last edited by SWKerr; 06-17-2010 at 08:44 AM. |

Nope. New beta doesn't solve my Playlist import fails.
