Qwest Choice TV
I was a Dish Network subscriber until I sold and moved to another part of the city. Qwest VDSL is available in my area and I thought I'd give it a try. It is cheaper than Dish Network but I'm not entirely sold with its HDTV line-up. Also, I lose the PVR functionality with Qwest so I've been thinking about building my own PVR. SageTv seems to be top of my list right now, next would be MythTv. Anyway, I currently have HDTV STB from Qwest (Motorola RG3000) and the remote uses IR so shouldn't be a problem there. The question is what type of tuner should I get? Would the HDTV STB feed HDTV signals to DVB tuner (such as HD HomeRun)? Obviously, I'm new to this space - I like the idea of being able to share movies and DVD's across network. I'll probably build a dedicated machine for SageTv but for the time being I'll use one of my spare computers (Pentium D) and get appropriate tv tuner if I knew which one to get. The HDTV STB carries both SD and HD. It doesn't have HDMI just component output. I know...I've complained to Qwest about it. They don't know when they'll start offering STB with HDMI output.
Thanks for your help.
