Sage & MCE

I know from the past that when I tried to install SageTV on my XP box that have MCE installed I could not sun Sage unless I disabled MCE services. MCE now comes with Vista Ultimate. Does the same hold true?

Yes it does. If the MCE services start before Sage does, it will grab control of the tuner cards and prevent Sage from using them. I believe the MCE service names may have changed in Vista, so do a search on it.

Thanks Jack ... I figured as much ... Was hoping I could have just launched one, close it and then launch the other wirthout having to fool with services.

Here is a good Vista summary thread.. http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...a+mce+services

bouncing back and forth between Sage and MCE may be an issue. MCE likes to take control of the tuners. I don't think that mearly closing the MCE software would release the tuners for Sage to take control of them for its usage. Now, on a client, I don't have any issues with either running SageClient or Vista MCE ( I just play around in MCE listening to some music sometimes)
