What happens when channel lineups change?

Please forgive me if this has been answered before. My initial searches came up empty.

On May 15th, the Houston Time Warner cable lineup will be replaced by Comcast. I received a notice that a few of the programs would hop around to different places. Does the EPG in Sage auto-magically update itself with the new lineup? Are there any gotchas from those who have been through this in other places? Any advise and/or information would be most appreciated.

it all depends...

If zap2it.com keeps the old lineup name, then Sage will probably just chug along with no problems. You just need to keep on top of monitoring the lineup, checking to see if a new Comcast EPG lineup shows up in Sage or zap2it, or if the channels get properly re-aranged on 5-15.

When my CC changed companys, my EPG did not get updated on the change date. I looked at EPGs from neighboring citys, and found one that the CC had converted the week before, and it matched. I set up Sage to use that one, come to find out that my city never did get a new EPG, guess they decided that my city will need to use the other citys EPG.

If your current provider/lineup simply changes the channel layout, it would get updated when the data source gets updated & then your systemn does an EPG update. You would still have to double check which channels are enabled & disabled.

If they change to a completely different provider, you would have to go to Source Setup, then change the EPG lineup to select the new one. If a provider change occurs, which sounds likely, you will not get any EPG data after the switch occurs until you reconfigure your lineups.

Sometimes, such a switch can take a few days to become available from SageTV's EPG source. If this doesn't happen, see this FAQ to report it to SageTV.
