Transcoding to SageClient
Any chance of a switch to enable the Placeshifter style transcoding-on-the-fly in SageClient? I would prefer to use SageClient on my laptop, instead of placeshifter, for a few reasons. (No annoying logon steps, localized STV's, faster loading time, instant command response, etc.). The only thing Client can't do, is the transcoding for remote use.

It is my understanding that if the client can't connect to the drives (use mapped instead of unc or a different user on the client who is denied to the share) that the server handles the connection. I don't know if that means transcoded ala a PS connection though. I kinda doubt it would.. Are you pushing this through a tunnel?

SageTVClient is meant for LAN use; the server does not transcode media sent to this type of client.

My experience with using Client remotely over a VPN is that you lose that instant command response as soon as you put a slow link between you and the server.
Also, it's not an either/or choice. You can install both Client and Placeshifter on your laptop, and use whichever one suits your need of the moment, i.e. Client at home on the LAN, and Placeshifter on the road.
