lol-no problem. I'm not sure which one I prefer yet...just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything.
Guess its time to read through the thread
Thanks,
Juc

Any thoughts on implementing this import for the Default GUI?

Peace,

Hi guys,

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. My development computer died and it took a while to get back up and running. I started playing with porting the calendar to the default STV. So far so good. I'd say I'm more than 50% there. If all goes well, I hope to have a version for the default STV in the next week or two.

Aloha,
Mike

Quick update:

I made quite a bit of progress last night. I have everything basically working in the default STV now. I just need to make a few more adjustments and then put together the import. Would one or two brave souls be interested in doing some testing for me this week?

Aloha,
Mike

Since I am in test mode with 6.2.4 ... I'd be happy to test it ...

Thank guys.

I got all of your e-mail addresses. Look for something in your inboxes in the next couple of days. I think I have enough people to test this now.

Please note that I am using the default v6.2.4 beta STV as the base version for this port, so that will probably be the minimum requirement.

Aloha,
Mike

Unhappy Google Calendar Menu Item Missing

Hi All,

I installed SageMC and then the Google Calendar per the instructions (I also edited the sage.properties file). Loaded the .xml via settings. It appears to load but I do not get a Calendar menu item.

Sooooo, thinking I screwed up, I deleted SageTV and the folders and reinstalled from scratch keeping only my wiz.bin file. Loaded SageMC full, loaded SageMC build update, loaded Google Calendar, selected it via iSTV setup and I still don't have a menu item that says calendar.

What am I doing wrong. Please help.

Tammy

From the instructions on first post:

Quote:
The calendar is accessible from the Calendar Icon added to the Main Menu. Alternately you can add a menu item for the calendar using an available Custom menu item or by using dynamic menus to link to the ‘Calendar’ internal screen.
If you don't see a calendar icon then right click on one of the menu pages and add a new internal screen. It's probably called calendar. (Sorry-I'm not using it.) After you do that remember to right click again and file-save,

Gerry

Going back to Standard STV

Gerry,

Thanks for the quick response. I edited the menu and the calendar comes up but it has writing over it like "Google Video" and I can't leave the screen. Actually I am having trouble getting out of several screens. I have played with SageMC all day and don't think it is for me. The original version seems to respond as I would expect it. Thanks, but I'll have to do without the Google Calendar at this time.

Tammy

Since this question comes up frequently, I added instructions on how to add custom menu items to the SageMC Wiki

FYI, the Google Calendar import has been updated and now requires SageMC v6.3.4 or higher.

Mike

Oh, by the way...

I probably should have mentioned before that I included an experimental import for the default STV. It still needs some polish and the new animations are not fully supported yet, but seems to be working just fine.

After you import the GoogleCalendar_SageTV3.STVi file, a Google Calendar menu item will be added to the Online Services menu. You will have to set up your user and password in your sage.properties (or sageclient.properties) file as outlined in the instructions on the download page.

Hopefully I'll find some time to finish cleaning it up in the next couple of weeks.

Aloha,
Mike

Windows Home Server Google Calendar Media MVP problems

I am running SageTV Media Center on Windows Home Server. For some reason, I cannot run Sage from that computer (but the service works great).

Anyway, I loaded the Google Calendar STVs and I can get to Google Calendar well from a computer running SageTV Client. If I use Placeshifter, or a MediaMVP, I get the problem of the odd overlay, in which the recommended action was to define a background.png. Well, I am not sure where this is.

The only file in \sagetv\sagetv\stvs\sagemce is the zip codes file. I think what you are referring to in the the Themes directory (am I wrong?). If so, I still cannot find how to refer to this background.png (I saw the background file of background.jpg in the Standard STDV directory)

Should I make a change instead (on the MC computer) in the sage.properties or sageclient.properties file? I did, and restarted the server, but no luck. The calendar loads with data, but still that overlay problem, which makes it un-usable on the Placeshifter or MediaMVP.

Note that I am using a fresh install of SageTV (but I copied the wiz.bin file from my old installation). I am using the latest versions. In addition to the google calendar STV I have the dynamic menus and comskip utility.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

rerooks,

I'll have to try to fire this up on my MVP and see if I can reproduce your problem. I'll get back to you as soon as I come up with any suggestions.

Aloha,
Mike

Update

Due to other problems, I had to re-install Windows Home Server. This time, I put on SageTV MC v6.2 and not the version for Windows Home Server. I did get the SageTV client to work, but I still have the same problem with overlays. For version 6.2, there still doesn't seem to be anything except zipcodes in the \sagetv\sagetv\stvs\sagemce directory.

So, this is more of a v.62 MC thing, and doesn't seem to be particular to WHS... maybe I need something a bit more spelled out for a fresh SageTV installation for the Google Calendar plugin.

Just to clarify, are you running the SageMC version or the experimental version for the default STV? Also, what version of Java are you running? Version 1.6 is required.

Lastly, the zipcodes file is the only file that this plugin adds to the SageMCE folder. Everything else is placed in ...\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\GoogleCalendar. In the next update, the zipcodes file will get moved into this folder as well (it requires an update to a jar file).

I haven't had a chance to check this out on the MVP yet, but I hope to soon.

Aloha,
Mike
