Need a little help please!

I had Sage working ok in my setup until I tried to change from an ATI 9200 to a Matrox G400 video card. This is an Asus A7V8X-MX/PVR-250/512 mb RAM...

Now anytime I try to show an image, either live or recorded, I get an error from Sage that reads:

"There was an error with the MPEG-s video setup. Failed connecting video stream to the Overlay Mixer ErrCode=0x80040217"

I suppose Sage is connfused about the video card and am wondering how far back into the install process I have to go to get them working together or is there something else I can edit or change to resolve this?

The G400 does seem to produce a sharper image which was my original intent for doing this.

Thanks for the help.

Lynn

Are you using Overlay or VMR? I think the Matrox only does Overlay and it may not support the same decoder settings. Also, what decoder are you using?

Thanks for the speedy response. I have "Overlay" selected and the only decoder shown on the pull-down is the "Intervideo ... for Hauppauge" decoder. Wonder where my Cyberlink decoder went?

Trying to play a DVD with Sage causes Sage to crash completely. this seems to generate a log file that reads:

An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.

and more...

DVDs seem to play fine with PowerDVD on the G400.

I've never seen a log like that but....
It has been my experience that when overlay is selected with the Intervideo and you have hacked the registry to enable DXVA, it will fail every time with the error you describe. With my card I must use the VMR with DVA and the intervideo and in fact I belive that Overlay DVXVA is not supported on the non css drivers.
This is not the case with other drivers. You had an ATI card...did you by any chance have the ATI cyberlink drivers ? when you uninstalled the ATI drivers it may have uninstalled the codec. In any case a re-install of PowerDVD should put the generic cyblerlink drivers back, I would try that first.

I run the Hauppauge Intervideo drivers with DXVA enabled and Overlay. Everything else is left at Default.

Well, I sort of have it working. After several round of reinstall and reboot the Cyberlink drivers reappeared. Power DVD always has worked so I think the Cyberlink driver was there all along as it did not come with the ATA card but with Power DVD.

In the mean time I tried switching to "Default" from "Overlay" for the video rendering filter and the TV image returned. Now, this is the opposite of what I expected but the TV functions all seem to be ok now including the Sage menus and controls.

I am still unable to play DVDs with Sage but they are fine with Power DVD. I have tried all permutations of filters/decoders... with no luck. Prior to switching video cards it worked but with limitations. I have never gotten the 5.1 audio stream to pass through Sage though it does play fine with Power DVD. Also several of the control functions for DVD with Sage don't seem to be active and I have had a few crashes while trying to play DVDs. I'll stick with Power DVD for now!

Thanks for all of your suggestions.

Lynn
