How can this be done?

Has anyone set up an NVidia DualTV to support an analog cable connection, + 2 SVideo connections?

I have (actually 2) DualTV cards and I am ordering a lifeline cable service to get something off of the local government access channel. Otherwise the tuners are normally running DirecTV boxes. Can this be done? If not, can SageTV tune DirecTV off air channels?

Thanks in advance.

You can configure a single capture card to use multiple inputs for the same encoder. You just have to make sure that the 2 inputs use different lineups and don't share any of the same network channels. If they share channels, then when you add the input with a shared channel, the first source for that capture device will be removed. SageTV will know the inputs use the same encoder and will schedule such that both inputs are not used at the same time.

Thanks Andy. So based on what you said since I have DirecTV and will be adding FiOS cable, I should not enable the channels which they have in common?

Also, the DualTV shows:

NVidia DualTV Capture
NVidia DualTV Capture #2
NVidia DualTV YUV Capture #2

as input options. I could add the first two as tuners of TV as well as SVideo. I don't know what the YUV tuner does. Do you?

Thanks again

Right -- enable them only on the one where you want them recorded. Since DirecTV goes to 2 inputs & most likely shares the same lineup, I would leave the channels enabled there to keep the most recording flexibility.

I'll let someone else cover the specifics of the DualTV tuners... I don't have that card, so I'm just talking in general regarding multiple sources for the same encoder.

If you check the ignore line in your properties file you will see the YUV capture on it for your first DualTV. The #2 is why it is showing on your second DualTV. Not sure why Sage doesn't put the second one on the ignore line but I assumed it was because of the #2. YMMV but that's what I saw when I installed my cards.

Bob, thanks for the reply. Based on the first two being in the list, I assume the other two needed to go there as well.

I went from:

Code:
mmc/ignore_encoders=NVIDIA DualTV PCM Capture|BDA Slip De-Framer|NVIDIA DualTV PCM Capture 2 \#2|NVIDIA DualTV PCM Capture 2|NVIDIA DualTV YUV Capture|NVIDIA DualTV PCM Capture \#2|BDA MPE Filter|NVIDIA DualTV YUV Capture 2|
to

Code:
mmc/ignore_encoders=NVIDIA DualTV PCM Capture|NVIDIA DualTV YUV Capture \#2|BDA Slip De-Framer|NVIDIA DualTV PCM Capture 2 \#2|NVIDIA DualTV PCM Capture 2|NVIDIA DualTV YUV Capture|NVIDIA DualTV PCM Capture \#2|NVIDIA DualTV YUV Capture 2 \#2|BDA MPE Filter|NVIDIA DualTV YUV Capture 2|
