HVR1600 and ABC-HD

I'm wondering if there are any other HVR1600 users that are having trouble recording from ABC HD? I have yet to successfully record an episode of LOST, and I've got 5 weeks of bad recordings to show for the effort. All other channels are working fine, but for some reason LOST is, um, lost.

If I load the files for play, the timeline shows 60 minutes of recording, but playback of the entire file actually takes about 10 minutes. It's mostly rapid cuts of picture with weird sound interspersed. File size appears normal (~12 gig, if I recall), but playback doesn't work. I've tried transcoding to a different format, but it always fails.

I'm in Atlanta, watching the local OTA of ABC.

Anyone else seeing issues?

Thanks,

KevPriest

Nothing to add other than the only channel I've ever had a problem with (Fusion5 OTA - HDHR OTA/QAM) has been.....wait for it.....ABC-HD (WXYZ-DT - Detroit). I wish I had the knowledge to examine the stream...they've got to doing something differently than CBS, FOX, NBC, PBS (CW, My).

I'm in Atlanta and it works. how is the signal strength? I had similar issues before I got a better antenna, I still have glitches but its more because my apartment is kind of in a hole by a road. What type of processor are you using to decode it? the slowest I've tried was a Athlon XP 2800+ but even that took a small bit of tweaking to get to handle it.

I've got a good antenna (big aerial in the roof), but I haven't checked signal strength on that channel, so I'll look at that tonight.

I've tried different playback machines and they all display exactly the same problems in exactly the same places, so I'm sure the issue is in the file itself at that point.

Thanks!

Sounds like bad reception, if you get a break in the signal with HDTV you will get jumps like this.

Lost broadcast on ABC last night was smooth for me with no problems using HVR-1600 (except audio at one point). Recording in Detroit channel 7.1 The only exception was audio cut out around the middle, just after commerical break Sawyer was hunting or something. It came back when scene returned to Kate. Same audio glitch was present for a friend on mine watching it live via WOW cable, so it was a source problem.
