New SageTV User help needed
Hi Group,
I am a new Sage TV user. I just purchased v6 after reading some great reviews. It seemed to be a good transition based on the reviews now that I have built a dedicated media box with 1080i to my JVC LCD. I am coming off of using GBPVR with a MVP extender for the last year. Well, I just can't seem to get Sage to use my network drives (samba flexshares on a clarkconnect 4.0 box) for recording, even though I know Sage can access those samba shares since I am pulling media from them (photos, videos, etc). -yes, I am running Sage as a service and am using UNC paths. The service is running as a local user (not system) with privileges to access the samba shares -the samba shares are "shared" with no user access required, but it doesn't care if someone tries to login or not, it will let anyone in (I have tried to restrict to just the "sagetvdvr" user that I am configured with) -the samba logs show little to nothing, just the sage box connecting, reconnecting, connecting, reconnecting (you get the picture; the logs are full of this activity) -the sagetv logs are a little difficult to analyze, since there are many errors, but not easily deciphered (could just be me). Anyway, the sage debug file is attached and I would appreciate any assist on this. My setup is a nvidia 7600GS card with a WinTV PVR 500-MCE running in a shuttle; nothing too complicated here. The thing that is killing me here is that after 4+hrs of troubleshooting this app I just paid 70-80USD for (I went for the placeshifter as well), I know that I could turn around and in 30min be back up and running with GBPVR using my network shares like old times. Please advise, I would really like to like this app, but I am off to a rough start. Thanks guys- |

The logs show it's having a problem accessing the filesystem. I believe you still need to define the sagetvdvr user on your clarkconnect box. Even though it allows anyone to log in it can't write to the filesystem.

thanks
Thanks Gerry, I think I had been looking at it for too long and missed the obvious here. I had some permissions issues with my new samba directory, in addition to a duplex mismatch on the wire. Everything is working great now!
Thanks again |
