Sage Exits

I'm working to try to get HDTV playback smooth all the time(trying all settings) and I've found that:

1. FSE mode only works with VMR9, if I try FSE with Overlay Sage exits when video playback is attempted
2. If I choose nividia post processor as decoder, sage exits as well when video starts, no matter what the other settings

why would can't i run FSE in overlay or default or use post processor at all?

My system:
AMD3200
AN8X
1 GB mem
PNY 7300GT (latest drivers)
2 SATA 160GB WD drives in striping raid array
2 hvr-1600
dlink DWL-520 wireless card
sage 6.1.6 with nvidia decoder (latest decoder)

Also, I'm not sure what these settings would/could do to affect playback as manual just says to use default unless there are problems, not sure what the other choices do:
DXVA MPEG Mode
DXVA deinterlacing
audo renderer as opposed to audeio decoder filter

FSE is VMR9 only. I am not surprised it breaks overlay (I am surpised it crashes Sage -- look for hs_err_pidxxx.log files in Sage directory).

Crashes like this may sometimes be due to problems in video drivers or DirectX...
