confused: Meedio and girder user; Sagetv n00b
I hope this isn't detailed elsewhere as I have tried searching for this for a while. I just started (attempted) using SageTV coming from BeyondTV. I have a few questions I hope someone could answer so I am not spinning my wheels:
1) How do I make the fullscreen ui go back to the task tray. I have seen people say that if the options are set right that you can alt-f4 and it will but that isn;t my experience thus far (it just completely goes away) and using alt-f4 just seems a bit excessive to me and somewhat "haphazard". Can one have an exit button on the main menu (ala BeyondTV)? 2) Is there a command for bringing up the fullscreen GUI? Is it just the regular executable? If so, it makes it hard to create automation (i.e. nested commands in Meedio or triggering in Girder). How are people doing this? Thanks for any tips!!! |

1) 3 options: (you may want to disable Setup->Detailed setup -> General -> Screen saver on sleep).
a) Standby on the main menu ![]() Alt-F4 -> standby works if you have Setup->Detailed setup -> Customize -> Action to take when SageTV window is closed=Sleep Sage b) CTRL-Z c) And finally, Power Off sagecommand which can be sent by a Girder sendmessage (see manual) 2) if it is asleep in the taskbar: Power On and Full Screen On commands are what you want (see manual). These commands can be sent by Girder/sendmessage plugin, or by the sendmessage.exe included, or by Sagetv.exe -event.

If it was in fullscreen, and is put to sleep (tray), it will return to fullscreen on power on.

Thanks for the QUICK and friendly replies!
Another question: Can I change the verbage on the Main Menu from "Stanby" to something else? That is confusing to the average joe and seems to me to be more of a computer term...something I am trying to avoid in my HTPC rig. I would actually love to call it "Exit" myself or just be able to exit the fullscreen UI (retire to tray) just by hitting "back" (whatever that command is) once more. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks again!!! Edit: Tried the sagetv.exe -43 thing. It works, however, it doesn't give focus to sage. Not a problem if there are no other windows up and you are using messages to control sage, but the taskbar is still there, and if I had meedio running, it would still have the foreground. Is this the nature of the beast? Last edited by debennett2; 03-28-2007 at 09:19 AM. |

IIRC, using girder and sendmessages brings Sage up in focus.

I have a customisation (see footer) that allows the main menu items to be re-arraged/renamed/customised/added to to your heart's content. Otherwise you can edit the user interface with Studio (See the studio forum)
As for focus... I don't have any focus problems when switching back to Sage when it is asleep (using Girder Sendmessages). I am guessing that it might be an aspect of however you are sending the event to Sage..

Yeah, I use girder anyhow so maybe I should just keep it in Girder. Can someone tell me where I can find the info for the girder sendmessage commands in the manual or elsewhere? I can;t seem to find it with a search for some reason.
By the way, I even tried the built in Sagetv sendmessage parameters and it works but still is running behind Meedio and will not come to the foreground. Others are using Meedio and Sagetv with the exact same commands and have no complaints about that. Not sure what the deal is there. What I would like to be able to do though is, and I don't know if this is easily possible, have girder be able to "know" when Sagetv is not in the tray (i.e. window open) and enable/disable groups in Girder based on this, but also enable disable groups based on the fact that I am closing the sagetv window. With BeyondTV and Meedio this was very simple as BeyondTV had a separate command/executable for launching the FSUI. I could then nest the command in Meedio (i.e. as long as this is open, do this and once it close do that). Any pointers in this area would be greatly appreciated. I hate it when things work most of the time and not all. Thanks so much. |

manual chap 5 'Sending commands/by Windows messages'
There are Girder GML files around (at least there were) on the Girder site somewhere I use WindowExists in girder to detect whether the Sage window is open do that buttons do one thing in Sage and another elsewhere...
