VMR9 pixelation

I am having an issue with my main Sage box.

I am using an Nvidia 6200 and trying to use VMR9, FSE, and 3D accel. I am using the latest RC of Sage and the latest Purevideo and Nvidia video drivers.

If I use overlay - everything is smooth and PQ is good. If I use VMR9 to get transparency - eveyrthing is very jaggy.

The funny thing is that my Sage client box is fine using a Radeon 9600 and all else being equal. No jaggies. I would figure that the Nvidia card would work better with the purevideo codec.

Any ideas?

I do notice that if I force Purevideo to FILM for antialiasing - everything looks smooth again - but Smart or Automatic brings the jaggies back (sometimes intermittently).

HELP!

Look at this thread http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24248 . I believe I have the same problem. Is this what you see?

I rebuilt my system and it worked fine. Then for no reason it starts.

I just submitted a bug report for this. Forcing purevideo to film didn't help me.

I beleive this is just a bug/incompatibility with Nvidia PureVideo and the way it handles VMR9. I see it on all sources, for the most part it isn't very noticable except on reds.

Overlay looks a lot better, but then you have to live without the graphical enhancements, and for me in overlay mode the aspect ratios are not handled properly by Nvidia's decoder.

These are purely Nvidia issues, as other decoders do not exhibit the same problems. But, Nvidia's de-interlacing and overall quality is still better than anything else I have found. Nvidia hasn't released a new version in a long while, and their support is unresponsive. So, I think you just have to pick your compromises.

Why did this just start happening on the last 2 sage beta releases? I've never had this issue before.

Perhaps you had settings different or just hadn't noticed it previously, and now that you have are keying in on it, but I've had it ever since I've had Sage installed (over 2 years)

I have never seen this before. I definitely would have. I watch some of these shows and movies on a 110in screen, so it would definitely show up there.

I submitted a bug report. We'll see if they get back to me.

Looks like my problem is when I change the aspect ratio setting under setup. I increase mine to 103% from 100% and then my jagged edge starts.

Sagetv is working on a fix for me.

Perhaps that is what changed?

scaling will cause those kinds of anamolies a lot of times.

This is great on one hand - but annoying on the other. I just bought all Radeon cards to replace my Nvidia cards...
