Installing a new graphics card

I could use some advise...

I have used an Nvidia 6200TC for the last year. I just bought an Nvidia 6600TC OC. I believe that from what I am reading, I should get significantly better HD with the 6600TC.

So, what is the best procedure for uninstalling the old and installing the new? I do not have a monitor since this is an HTPC connected to the receiver. I can use VNC.

Thanks,

Gary Ellis

You can do this over VNC, if that's what you are asking. Just do what you would do with any pc.

Thus, unistall the software and drivers and remove the old card, then install the new card and install the new drivers/software?

I assume I some how want to make sure that the old is all gone.

Thanks,

Gary Ellis

Maybe you should have sprung the little extra for the 6600GT?

I am having issues with 1080i on a 6600. Isn't the 6600TC the lower end of that line? The GT would have been the way to go.

IIRC the TC is the one that uses system memory instead of onboard, dedicated memory.

Since both cards are nvidia 6000 series and use the same drivers, you shouldn't need to do anything except remove the old card and install the new one. Unplug your computer to be sure there is no power to the motherboard.
