Parent/child rules in machine-readable form?

Is the parent/child relationship matrix on p. 49 of the Studio manual by any chance available in some easy-to-parse format?

I tried writing some code to derive the rules by trial-and-error, but it seems they're not actually enforced by the API. AddWidgetChild happily lets you hang any widget type under any other widget type.

What I'm looking for is a runtime test I can apply to a pair of widgets in order to know whether it's a legal combo before I actually combine them.

Thanks.

The manual page is just a table in Word, with marks in the appropriate places.

If this isn't getting enforced by the API call, then I would send a report to SageTV.

The one I have is in PDF format. All right, I guess it's time to stop being lazy and find some program to convert the PDF to something I can use. I was just hoping someone might have done that already.

I'll submit a bug report on the API thing.

Thanks.

I'm not sure you'll be able to, unless the program doesn't follow the PDF's permissions.

I just meant that the source of that page was simply that Word Doc table, instead of something else. I figured you weren't looking for a doc file, but if you can use that, I should be able to cut & paste it to a separate doc file.

Thanks, but I just bit the bullet and re-entered the data by hand. If anybody cares, here's a simple text file listing all the valid combos. I'll also be providing an API function for this in my next Tools release.

The most recent version of Adobe Acrobat 8 will allow you to save a pdf file back to a word document preserving the content.
