When can we have a consistent UI?

Current UI grows along the different versions (2, 4, 5, 6) with sequential additions.
This shows. UI inconsistency like:
Refresh imports on setup page
Videos not treated consistently. I do no see the difference between recorded TV or video files loaded

Any news on a cleaner UI?
And please do not tell me, I can use SageMC or any other UI.
The stock UI should come from Sage and it should be consistent

To sum up the thread that steve posted:

1. Nobody knows.

2. Some people think "why bother, it works great for me'?

3. Some people think "you don't like it, write it yourself"

4. Some people think "Did I mention SageMC? Have you tried SageMC? SageMC is the coolest thing ever......."

5. Some people think "it needs more shiny things"

6. Some people think "it needs an overhaul because I have to pick up TFM to find anything...."

7. Some people gave up and went home.....

And some of us went to Hawaii on vacation, and just temporarily ignored comments about how it's "barbaric" to use a two button device on a HTPC and instead promoted controlling your HTPC like a VCR made in 1984.

I didn't want to go into too much detail, lest the OP's head asplode. I attempted to emulate the mantra of Inigo Montoya:

Quote:
Westley: Who are you? Are we enemies? Why am I on this wall? Where is Buttercup?
Inigo Montoya: Let me 'splain.
[pause]
Inigo Montoya: No, there is too much. Let me sum up. Buttercup is marry' Humperdinck in a little less than half an hour. So all we have to do is get in, break up the wedding, steal the princess, make our escape... after I kill Count Rugen.

Well, that went right over my head, but I did think you'd done a nice job of summarizing the lengthy thread.

stu,

I read your post 3 times:

I haven't got a clue what your point is there or whether you were just rambling. Some sort of inside joke I suppose. Your post #3 is an excellent summary though.

It's a "Princess Bride" reference.

Funny.

Yeah, no progress. But, you didn't mention my STV.

Sorry Crash,

Apparently you don't have many ravenous fan-boys yet.

As for the Princess Bride reference, I must be older than I thought if that movie has already passed into obscurity I just showed it to my 9 year old, and she agreed; it's the best movie ever.

I must be that old too, 'cause it made me laugh

And still one of the greatest movies ever. I saw it in the theater originally and then MANY years later when it was restored. And both times the crowd cheered when Inigo finally meets Count Rugen and gets to say...

"Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

I think I need to watch that again soon.
