hdhomerun+TWC=no ABC or NBC HD

I got it all started up and was so happy to see my qam hd channels but my local NBC and ABC HD channels are no where to be seen. There are plenty of channels with 2 subs that are encrypted and I think that that is where they lay. It does not make sense for them to encrypt some but not others. Anyone know what I can do? Am I missing a step?, can I call them and complain?, if so do you think it would help?, any advice would be great.

By the way I am in Lancaster, CA

Yes it does. Because if you get fed up with it, you'll rent a box from them and forget about QAM

I'd test out the QAM channels with something else, like a QAM'ed TV, to make sure that the channels are really missing. Then, I'd call them up and ask them why they aren't sending out all the locals unscrambled like they should. FCC regs are unclear if the CC must send out BOTH the analog and digital locals in the clear. Once the analog is turned off, then they must send the digital locals in the clear, but right now, with both, I think there is some grey area for the CC to play with. If the blow you off, then complain to the FCC.

I complained to my local CC (Charter) about them encrypting EVERY channel. I also filed a complaint with the FCC. Charter said they could care less, and I never heard back on my FCC complaint. Good luck.

Yup, they may care less, and then you are out of luck, but I think that every "Local city franchise board or FCC' complaint" has to be addressed before the next renewal period.

Quote:
If My Problem Appears to Be With My Cable Signal, Who Do I Contact to File a Complaint?

Signal quality complaints should be given directly to your cable company. The FCC's rules require cable companies to have a process in place to resolve subscriber complaints on signal quality. At least once a year, companies must also notify subscribers of the process for resolving complaints.

What Should I Do If My Cable Company Does Not Resolve My Complaint?

Contact your local franchising authority (LFA), which is the local city, county, or other government organization that regulates your cable television service. The name of the LFA may be on the front or back of your cable bill. If this information is not on your bill, contact your cable company or your local town or city hall.

The FCC's technical rules are generally enforced by the LFA, which is the organization most likely to be familiar with a local system’s operation and plant. The rules also assist the LFA in judging the cable company's technical performance during the franchise renewal process. This process determines whether a cable company can continue to provide cable service to the community.
It may just be tilting at windmills, but somebody's got to

I guess I am one of the lucky ones here in NC...I have TWC and get all the local channels via HDHR in HD. Then I was able to get rid of the set top box and changed from the packaged deal to just basic and extended. I saved $28 on my cable bill per month. And I am saving up for an HD extender.
