Can Sage Client wake Sage Server?

I'm thinking us turning on power management for my server, and understand that Sage will ensure that it wakes to record shows. But if I want to watch a show via my client in another room, with the client wake the server so that I can watch my show? Is this needed?

I did not see anything in the manual about this. Is anyone out there doing this? I guess I could kludge something together with a WOL if needed, but I'm not sure it if is even needed

Thanks

I did confirm that the client won't wake the server. I do have my server so that it can wak on lan. I've tested this and it works fine.

Does anyone know if there is a way to have the client send a WOL packet to the server? Maybe a Studio hack could provide this.

thanks,

Can't you use the Dynamic Menus plugin to call an external app to send a WOL packet?

Or just create a batch file that sends the packet before launching SageTVClient.

I just did the second thing. I found a CLI WOL generator and put it in my startup directory so it will be run when I start my client box. This will work fine as I always power down my client when not using it.

thanks,
