Favorite Show Did Not Record...

Hey all,

I set up several shows as favorites so they would record every time. They showed up in the scheduled recording list with a red circle with an A in it out beside the show name. I had both the server and the UI running and the show did not start recording. I am confused. What is going on?

If another favorite/manual recording was recording at that time, there may have been a potential conflict. Sage may have scheduled your favorite to record a different airing of the show.

There was a conflict, but on the conflict screen it was saying there were no conflicts and the scheduled recordings screen had it listed at the right time and day. This is really wierd to me.

Is there somewhere that describes what all of the icons on the UI mean?

Its only a "official" conflict if Sage can't find a way to record it.

If there is a second airing scheduled in the next 2 weeks, Sage will record that airing so that everything will be recorded. Such as, LOST, which may replay the episode again during the week, or on a different ABC affiliate station, or do a replay of the episode just before the next weeks new episode. What you need to do is look into "additonal airings" of that favorite and see what Sage is planning on doing.

As for UI help, if you go to Settings>Help>Interface Guide, there is a tutorial that shows the different icons. And starting on pg.28 of the Sage PDF manual, there is a breakdown of some of the icons.

Ok. After setting up my favorites I got a conflict betweent this and another favorite that I had set up. I cleared the conflict to tape the more important of the two shows tonight, and go the TV with the green checkmark. When I looked at the scheduled recordings, the show I wanted was listed as the next recording (to start at 8:00). Out beside the show name the icon appeared to tell me that is was a favorite recording to cover all episodes (red dot with A in the middle). I checked the SageTV Recordings at 8:15 and there was nothing there. Then I looked at the top of the screen and no red REC icon showing that something was recording. Once again, I had both the Sage Server and the UI running at the same time, but other than that everything was normal.

I am really baffled over this. Please help.

And, this FAQ explains how to turn on debug logging to get more info about why a show that you saw as scheduled to record turned out not to be recording just a few minutes after it started. Maybe it is having a problem using that tuner or that channel. Or, maybe there was a problem trying to write the recording to a file -- enough space available?
