video input problem

I ended up installing Sage on Ubuntu. I have all the dependencies and ivtv (with 350 tv out) configured properly. The Sage server is up and running. But now I've hit a wall. As far as I know, using Linux on a non-Gentoo distro, I have to run the Sage Client (sageclient.sh) in order to have the OSD show up. When I started the client for the first time, I proceeded with the configuration wizard. Everything is fine until I have to define the video input devices (tv tuner) - the program gets stuck on "Please wait for video preview to load." I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or not. I've made sure that the tuner card is receiving a signal via the command line and playing back in mplayer. Could it be something with port forwarding or the ports open/closed on my router? I'm using the same computer as the server and client, so it shouldn't be a network problem, but I just don't know. Any help would be appreciated.

BB

Ignore that there is nothing in the preview window and just keep going and finish the config. Reboot and everything should work.

Did you find an answer bradlewa? I have the same problem using Ubuntu 6.10. I'm converting from a Windows setup that worked (350 card is good), so it must be something with Ubuntu...

I can't get Gerry's suggestion of bypassing this and to continue with setup. The only thing I can do is close the client and start again.

I'm successfully able to capture a test video by this command:
cat /dev/video0 > /tmp/test_capture.mpg

and can play it back with mplayer.....

Send a message via ICQ to _Demo_
You should try to run ldd * in the SageTV client directory. This will let you know about missing dependencies.

When I run ldd in the client directory, it tells me there are three files not found: libjawt.so, libCg.so and libCgGL.so.

libjawt.so seems to be related to java and might the other two be Nvidia files???

I can't find much info on this.

Thanks.
