Slim Sage not connecting to server

I've been trying to get this plugin to work for a few days without luck. When I open SlimPlayer on my SageClient, it goes to the correct menu, and everything looks correct, however the 'Slim Sage' interface does not show anything, and navigation has nothing to control.

I'm running the SlimServer on my Sage 6.0.19 Server. Installed the SlimPlayer MC pluggin and Softsqeeze to my SageMC 6.3.1 client. Installed Softsqeeze and copied .jar & lib directory to the \SageTV\JARs directory.

It apperas to be a connection issue between the client and server. I made sure to change the SlimServer hostname from localhost to server. On the client side there is no problem with a connection using softsqeeze on it's own outside of Sage, it even runs from the copied \SageTV\JARs\softsqeeze.jar file. Any suggestions?

Ya know, I saw this happen on one of my clients and never did bother to check it out yet, but I will see what is going on there and maybe it will be the same for you. What version of Java and SageMC do you have and what imports are you using?

I'm using SageMC 6.3.1 I have Java 5.0.11 installed, but under the Sage hardware setup screen, it says "Java Version: 1.5.0_11 (I guess you ingnore the first 1?).

I use to have your Web Radio installed, but uninstalled it file by file before reinstalling SlimPlayer MC again. The only other pluggin is NetFlix. I've may have tried to install SlimPlayer (non MC version) a while back...

Thanks for the help, this plugin looks great. I can't wait to get BBC radio! -Michael

mleonard, I was able to get the slim interface working on that one client. I started SoftSqueeze without the Sage client not running and then brought up the Sage client with SoftSqueeze running (in the powered on state). Went to the SlimPlayer page and saw my favorites and the SlimPlayer data on the control display. I shut down SoftSqueeze and things seem to be fine now even if I close Sage and bring it back up. Perhaps there is some power-on logic in the slimplayer java interface library that does not always operate correctly on initial startups. See if that procedure helps you at all.

Hi. I thought that I would follow up on my problems that I am having with this plugin. I tried asking for help in the main Slimplayer import thread and nobody has replied. I even posted a crashdump.

Here is a refresher of the problem, and I hope someone has some ideas.
->When changing from one favorite to another, OR when stopping a stream from playing, Sage crashes with NO errors, directly to the Windows desktop. I have now tried various (and the newest) slimplayer JAR files, along with trying Java 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6. In all cases, the crash will occur. Here is an example of the crashdump that appears in the Sage folder when the crash occurs.

I gave it a try but no luck. Any other suggestions?

I tried to get the SlimPlayer plugin to show up in MC. I'm having the same problems that were mentioned earlier in this thread. This is the only import that I have tried.

I can send my xml if it helps.

I take it you mean that the SlimPlayer submenu is not visible under the Main menu Music sub-menus? You could send the XML to Morgan111b@gmail.com. What you have for the following in your properties file:
ui/controls_font_size
ui/controls_font_style
ui/controls_font_face

Do you know if it worked with the non-SageMC slimplayer import? It would be helpful to know if it works with the default stv version of the import. In fact I would recommend loading the default STV SageTV3.xml and importing Koelec's slimplayer to that and see if it does anything.

Sorry, that's what I meant. Thanks for the response and I'll take a look at my settings and email the xml when I get in front of the PC.

I finally got around to install this. I've got it pretty much working, both in a server and client-server configuration.

So far I am experiencing the following problems:

1) I still have not seen any cover art or artist info yet. I tried a lot of stations (even the 181.fm which Morgan used for the screenshot), but nada... I made sure that I only have commons-httpclient-3.0.1.jar in the JARs directory. Can anyone post a station that definitely should display the info ?

2) if I browse to a station that Slimserver can't connect to, the Slimserver display gets stuck in 'Connecting...', Sage displays its spinning icon, and I have to kill the SageUI to recover. Nothing in the Sage logs either. This issue makes the plugin pretty much unusable for me...

Any ideas ?

Dirk

Dirk, you should see cover art/info if they are in the Yahoo database, but on a station like 181.fm it seems like most of the artist have an image.

I'm not sure if both of your problems could be related to firewall issues. You could try disabling your client firewall (assuming you have one) and try again. You may want to restart your SlimServer at that point too. Also, try connecting to a non-shoutcast radio station to see if that connects.

Edit: Nevermind about the non-shoutcast idea.

For anybody having trouble with the Artist pic & info display, if you have previously installed a version of Koelec's import, make sure that your JAR directory has the latest slimplayer.jar file from 12/09/2006. There was a change to the data format at that time and the jar file was updated to account for that.

Here is what I found for the slimplayer subemenu:
HTML Code:
 <FontFace>=GetProperty("ui/heading_font_face", "Arial")</FontFace>
  <FontSize>=GetProperty("ui/heading_font_size", 28)</FontSize>
  <FontStyle>=GetProperty("ui/heading_font_style", "Plain")</FontStyle>
Everything else in the menus are size 19.

The menu does show up on the Media MVP I have on another TV. Can I just change the font size to 19? Maybe I'll give it a try.

Just redownloaded file and slimplayer.jar file in archive is dated 11/08/2006.
Where can I find the new version?

FOUND IT -->> in Kolec's original archive

On another note,
Exactly what must I start/run to make this all work?
Slimplayer and Softsqueeze?

I have been having problems with Softsqueeze being very resource hungry and pegging the CPU at 100%.

Thanks,
-JD

I can't believe I gave everybody an outdated slimplayer.jar. I have had the new one in my JAR directory and couldn't figure out how people got the old one. I have updated the full download with the latest slimplayer.jar. If anyone just needs the latest slimplayer.jar file (12/09/2006) you can get it from this post and put it in your JARs directory.

You need Slimserver running on any PC and then the SlimServer import in Sage. You don't want to run SoftSqueeze at the same time (at least not on the same PC that you are running SlimPlayer).
Attached Files

Doh...

Thanks, figured out to just run Slimplayer server.

Also, the 'slimplayer.jar' dated 12/09/2006 did fix my problem with no cover art or text displaying.

Thanks....

Mapping remote to custom2 command

Hello,

I have been trying to map a remote key to the custom2 command(running latest SageMC). When I map the key to the command the menu screen that shows up is the recorded tv menu not the slim player menu. Does anyone know how to get the slimpayer menu to show up?

I was having the same problem when I had the basic radio plugin installed as well, never got it fixed.

Thank you

There's something in SageMC or the latest SageTV which breaks custom2. When I do it, I get a dialog box about RSS Feeds, etc. I had no choice but to keep my Music button on my remote mapped to My Music in sageTV.

Morgan, I know you are busy with a million different things. But, would you please be kind enough to tell me how to get the navigate popup box to be transparent? I think it would look better that way; especially when floating above an artist biography. Maybe if you like it this way enough, you could incorporate is as part of the slimplayerMC package.
