DVD playback configuration?

I checked and didnt see this posted

I installed Cayars UltimateSTV.... when i go to play a DVD it does nothing (i tried with several DVDs) then I try to go to next chapter i get

There was a DVD Error in playback details sage.playbackexception: error (-9x0x80040277): this operation is currently not allowed for this dvd.

i ran that error string into google and got...

VFW_E_DVD_INVALIDDOMAIN "This Operation is not permitted in the current domain." 0x80040277

I tried installing power dvd (maybe i needed some sorta dvd decorder...) and now my PC freezes n reboots when i go to the DVD Player in Sage.... uGh

im able to play the DVD fine in PowerDVD

This doesn't belong in this thread. It sounds like this would happen to you in any STV not just Cayars. Yesterday you posted that your default decoder was the Intervideo NonCSS and this will not work for regular encrypted DVD playback. Change the Video and Audio Decoder to an actual DVD decoder in the Detailed Setup - DVD section.

On the "nothing happens" problem, what are your decoder settings in the DVD section of Detailed Setup?

On the error:
Yeah, I wish Jeff would make that error more friendly, basically it's part of the way DVDs work (some times you aren't allowed to skip/ffw/etc), but that error makes it sound worse than it is.

DVD Rom Drive Yes
DVD Video Rendereer Default
DDV Video Decoder Filter Cyberlink..blahblah from PowerDVD
DVXVA DVD MPEG MDOE DEFAULT
DXVA DVD DEINTERLACING Default
DVD Audio Decoder Filter Cyberlink... blahblah from PowerDVD
Audio Rndereer Default
Skip DVD Menus disabled

now when i play it it goes a lil crazy then i get a ram error sometimes i dont get the ram error but the pc hangs

scratch that.... powerdvd does the same thing...w hat should i do!?

Try using Overlay for the DVD Video Renderer and if that doesn't work also try VMR9 instead of Default.
