SageTV on Ubuntu

Linux Magazine, Feb. 2007 is now on the shelf, and has an article that walks through installing SageTV on Ubuntu Edgy (6.10)

This also says it is available for Linspire, and Freespire. Pricing seems a little ridiculous though..

???? What do you mean ???? Pricing is the same for Linux Sage as Windows Sage.

$79.95 for Sage, and $99.99 for Sage with placeshifter.

Did ya look at the links I listed? The Placeshifter Link is confusing. It does not explain things like the Media Center link does. They are showing:

Placeshifter

Price: $99.95
CNR Gold Price: $89.95

Media Center

Price: $79.95
CNR Gold Price: $69.95

Why would the Placeshifter cost more than the Media Center? They say on there page that Sage Media Center is required to use the Placeshifter so I don't see where it is included in the Placeshifter price. Either I am missing something obvious, or the pricing/description on the Linspire site is hosed.. The Media Center link makes sense but the Placeshifter link doesn't.

Yes, I did look at the links.

The firs one had this,

Quote:
SageTV Media Center Version 6 for Linspire and Freespire is available for $79.95, or in combination with the optional Placeshifter license for $99.95, through Linspire's CNR software warehouse at www.linspire.com/sagetv.
I agree that the description of the Sage Media Center + Placeshifter combo needs to be better. But the 89.95/99.95 page is for the combo. If you go to the non-combo page, http://www.linspire.com/lindows_prod...oduct_id=25457 , it has a link to http://www.linspire.com/lindows_prod...oduct_id=25472, with the description, SageTV with Placeshifter option for only $99.95. And if you want to buy just the placeshifter license, it has a link to the Sage store for 29.95.

So, even though the page doesn't describe it very good, the pricing is correct.

Ok, got it. I was looking at it from a person who saw Sage, said Wow! I can have TV on Linspire. Then they proceed to get confused, then mad, then don't want to play anymore and go find something else.. Most people using Linspire use it because CNR is supposed to be easy. Not confusing. Anyway... On to find the article about Sage on Ubuntu..
