alternative audio decoders?
Are there any audio decoders that are easy to setup for spdif passthrough?
Right now i have the nvidia decoders, but the properties window doesn't seem to work with vista, the nvidia icon shows on the tray while i'm playing movies, but i cant get the properties window to come up so i can set the audio to be passthrough. From what i've read it seems like most decoders need to hae some kinda registry tweak to enable the passthrough on external applicatons. |

It looks like i can get the properties window to come up by setting the decoders to default.
However, i still don't ahve anywhere to change the audio settings in the decoder properties. Is there something i'm missing maybe? Edit: I've downloaded a filter manager as suggested in another thread that let me pull up the nvidia audio properties, and i've set them to receiver output / passthrough like the other thread said. However i think sage isnt using the nvidia audio decoder regardless of what its told to do. I know windows media atleast is using the ac3 filter and wont let me disable it in the advanced properties under dvd options. Last edited by utekineir; 01-01-2007 at 03:38 PM. |

Sounds like nVidia isn't your default audio decoder, have you tried either Windows Media Player (Tools-Options-DVD-Advanced) or Deccheck to see what your default decoder is?

Even when i set nvidia decoder through sage the ac3 one pulls up in windows media.
Is there a way i can set the nvidia one outside of sage? |

So AC3 Filter is showing in WMP>Options>DVD>Advanced? If so, go to the last tab and select "Prefer Other Decoder"

I have, it doesn't work.
Its kinda like the computer doesn't recognize the nvidia decoders are installed. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling them. |
