playing mp3 files

If Sagetv can not play shoutcast
Can Sagetv play mp3 files sequentially and continuously from a directory
as file are added?

I have MP3VCR that can do continuously add files to a directory over time.
I don't want to add to a playlist by hand then run play list.

Last time I searched forum I found threads that said
sagetv could not play shoutcast. (before I decided to purchase sagetv)
This was last November. Did I look at the wrong threads?
Was it always able to play?

Reading through the fine print I find:
"This plugin does not work with neither placeshifter or MVP"

Which brings me back to original question on playing mp3

Not that I know of.

SageTV can periodically rescan the library import dirs to find new files, so _maybe_ there is a trick that would do this... If a new file is found that is part of an album that has previously been added to a playlist, perhaps the playlist would play that new mp3 file as it plays all the songs on the album. I have no idea whether this would work or whether it fits what you are looking for.

I know Sagetv can play files in a folder
but wonder if it snaps a file list when it starts and never samples folder again.
or does it look in the folder again at end of each song.
Guess I will have to play with that.

This is what I meant that it doesn't do -- check the folder each time it starts playing another file. When you add all the files in a folder to a playlist, it adds those that exist at that time; it doesn't dynamically continue to add all files in finds in that folder in the future.

I mentioned that album tagging work-around just as something to try, if it happens to fit what you are doing with the files.
