Database upgrade may take a while...

Upgraded v5 to 6 and "Please Wait...database upgrade may take awhile..." doesn't ever complete. What do I do?

You wait. Depending on the size of your recording directory and any imported videos and MP3s, it could take a while. Mine took around 15minutes IIRC. If it still won't finish, I'd temporarly move any imports out of Sage scanned folders and try again. I'd also enable debug logging so I could see if it was hanging on a specific file.

Did you start up in Service Mode or Application Mode? I just upgraded 2 days ago and started up in Application Mode (for lack of a better term)...Wiz.bin conversion took about 2 minutes. My Wiz.bin was about 1 1/2 years of data.

I normal run in application mode. Wow 2 mins this is now almost 90 + minutes. Wish there was an indicator to tell me what is going on. I have a ton of MP3's and about 75 recorded videos when I started.

Can I stop it and restart?

Took about 50 minutes

I upgraded from v4 to v6 a few days ago and the "database upgrade" took about 50 minutes.

I kept thinking it couldn't still be working on it and almost shut it down, but thanks to this post just left it alone and it eventually finished. Shutting it down would have probably been a big mistake, so in a future version it would be wise for Sage to give some progress time bar or information on how much time is left or that it is actually still working and not "hung up" on something.

So my advice is if you are experiencing something like this, leave it alone for awhile, go do something else and come back to it after it is done.

And, yes, I am running Sage on a fairly powerful machine, however, I have been running it for a few years and have quite a few recordings and files that it had to go through.

It would be nice if you got a % done and estimated time to complete the database upgrade when you run the installer.
