That's annoying. Is it really that hard to check for versions?
No need to reinstall. Just copy the ac3 .ax file from where the 1.11 version is instsalled and overwrite the one in the Sage folder.

When I try playing a mpeg4 file, SageTV starts SageTVPlayer.exe in "Above Normal" priority. Is there any way I can make it start with "Normal" priority?

For anyone using the disk space bar in the hidden extras: In case you haven't seen the important note I posted earlier, you should not be using the disk space bar on a Placeshifter or MVP client until the next update is released, or else you may experience SageTV delays on your server.

The problem I ran into this weekend could cause your SageTV server (service or UI, if not using the service) to use much more cpu time than it needs to and therefore cause delays that make it look like SageTV is responding to commands very slowly. It might also cause playback problems on the server or a PS or MVP client, if it eats up too much cpu time.

I would also suggest shutting off the hidden extras and all other customizations on all PS or MVP clients, then restarting SageTV on your server, if you are experiencing UI or playback delays. Once the issue I ran into starts, the only way to clear it for now is to restart the server.

UI translation support

I am trying to do a translation for a sample stv into Hebrew.

I found that if the stv name is different than SageTV3.xml (like IlanSageTV3.xml), sage still tries to get the SageTV3_i18n_xx.properties file, no matter what stv is defined.

I work with hebrew and set the following:
i18n_options=en,fr,it,de,es,iw
ui/translation_country_code=iw
ui/translation_language_code=iw

I have also opened a bug on this.

Has anyone been able to translate their own STV (different name than SageTV3.xml)???

Am I doing anything wrong?

P.S.
I am trying to translate to Hebrew, but to test it out, you can use french, or whatever, it still does not work.

Yupp, I see the same. It doesn't matter if the stv is in a different directory, it will always use the SageTV3_i18n_xx.properties file in the STVs\SageTV3 folder.

OGM duration parsing bug seems fixed, but...

First, great job and very much thanks on fixing the OGM duration parsing bug.

Unfortunately, I'm having issues with trying to playback most of my OGM files when using Dshow(always use Dshow player=true). Their durations are correct but Sage is failing to build the graph properly. It ends up not using Haali's splitter or FFDshow Video decoder. The result is that I get a black screen with no audio, but the progress indicator does advance at the correct rate.

The same files(80+% of my OGMs) that fail using Dshow will work fine when Sage is told to use it's internal player(mplayer). So far all my tested OGMs seem to work with SageTV's builtin player. Still I prefer the flexiabitity(chapter,audio/sub selection of Haali and tuning of AC3filter and FFDshow video decoder) of Dshow for now. Maybe that will change as Sage's internal player evolves, perhaps in Ver 6.1.

BTW, all these files worked fine under Ver 5.0.4 in case anyone was wondering.

PS: My sincere apologies for not filing an official bug on RC1, and my tardiness in this reply. My computer crashed within an hour or so of my post in the RC1 thread. I've only now gotten my system rebuilt to a level of usability and stabilty to be fairly certian this is a SageTV issue. And yes, I've already filed an official bug report for this issue, right before I posted this. I decided to do the bug report first, just to be safe.

Much thanks for all you work,
/Justme

Ever since I upgraded, 25% of my recordings are the wrong channel.
It starts to change the channel and stops before the third digit.
I didn't have this problem before (version5)

And when I'm watching a recorded program..then switch to live TV..Sage changes the channel to the channel the recorded program was on instead of the channel it was recording. This may have happened in v5 but I never noticed it.

Also, the program icon in the description bar sometimes turns into what looks like a scrambled TV picture sometimes. Happens ALL the time when viewing google video and sometimes during imported video.

I had the same problem with mkv files, what I found was that NERO SPLITTER was getting in the way, so I unregistered it.

1. download tailxp like http://www.dirfile.com/tailxp.htm - so that u can monitor the log file as it is written
2. close sage, enable logging (rc2 has it off by default)
3. restart sage
4. drag the log file onto tail
5. try to run the movie, and which direct show filter /splitter sage is trying to load.

6. unergister that problem maker (if its not what you are using with the other standalone player, then its a trouble maker!!!).

7. please be advised that this is not for the faint at heart, and some knowladge is expected.

To unregister the filter you can use the rad filter manager, its very helpfull.

This was mentioned around here. The cause & property you can change is now on p. 142 of the v6 Studio manual, 2nd paragraph under the "STV translations" section.

Very interesting, I will check on this tonight.
This is still in my mind a bug, but maybe this is the workaround.

Anyone else having SageTV crash problems?

I've had it crash twice on this build. Once after being prompted as to whether to delete an airing we had just finished watching, and once overnight when nothing was happening at all.

I'm going to submit them as bugs tonight if I can find the logs. Can't remember if I had logging turned on our not on this client.

I had one instance where at the end of the show it asked if I wanted to delete and I said yes (as I usually do). Sage immediately crashed/exit with no error message, it was just gone. The recording was deleted however.

I saw this once, too. Was doing nothing at all and the UI crashed. Sage TV Service appeared to continue running.

I turned the debug_logging on and am now in the process of waiting for it to happen again.

I still have some problems with the 6.0.17 beta.

Still does not tune correctly. One channel changes the stream lineup twice daily. Sage combines the daytime and evening lineups and gets confused. The problem was previously reported. I even analyzed the transport stream and sent the data in.

When I change to full screen mode I get a Sage playback Exception error. The problem was previously reported.
The problem went away when I deselected and then reselected the same video decoder.

Then I had another problem. When I went back to windowed mode nothing could be displayed on top Sage. All other windows were behind it. This occurred with both VMR9 and overlay modes.

I can watch DVDs that have been extracted to the hard drive on the server. On the client I get a problem a the filesystem error. The problem was previously reported.

The folder is shared because I uploaded the DVDs from the client.

What server os do you use? I was getting this when I switched to 2K3 and my client user has no password (limited user, easier to logon with remote). 2K3 disables server share logon unless your user has a password, or you turn of that security measure.

Nielm, does this mean running Sage in FSE, minimizing Sage (via Girder, for example) and then restoring Sage turns off FSE? That would be a show stopper for me.

Thanks for the info.

Please don't tell my MVP and surround receiver, as they both seem to work under the impression that AC3 surround with an MVP is indeed possible

Andy,

Is this fixed in the offical 6.0 release that was announced just a short time ago?

Yes, and I added a link to the v6 release STV in the downloads section in the post after the one in the link you quoted.

And, to answer your next question, the few changes made for the v6 release are here.
