How does Sage control the ivtv driver ?

Hi, back again.

And now up running with Nielms webserver & XMLTV plugin.

A new challenge:
When I search my channels I do not find very much.

It seems like I can control the tuner from my linux terminal with the command:
ivtv-tune --frequency=189.250 - Then I lock on to the correct channel, but this channel shows up all the time no matter which channel I choose in the channel setup menu (or in the EPG).

So my question: How does Sage read the frequency information to map a channel number to a frequency? In windows he looks into the registry database, but here in Linux ?

/Michael

The channel tables are currently internal to the capture interface.

Hmm.. Any ideas of why I only can tune static via SageTV?

If I run a channel search it do not find any channels at all.
If I go to "Watch live tv" or the Program guide - choose a random channel the (moving) static is all I see.
The only way I can "change" channel is by entering e.g. "ivtv-tune --frequency=189.250" at the linux terminal?

It seems like Sage do not have control over the tuner?
What can I do ?

Regards:
Michael

Could you post your debug log when you try a few channels. This should give more information.

Cool, thanks.

My install was a fresh Debian Etch.

Lame/mad were from the lastest source.
Faad2 was from apt-get.
Java JRE 1.5 (first release, update 10 caused errors upon sagestartup.)

If someone can tell us exactly how SageTV changes channels that would be great.

For example, does sage use ivtv-tune or some other method. If ivtv-tune then how does it invoke it?

Ivtv is in my PATH and since changing channels from CLI changes them in Sage, this appears to be a specific issue between sage and ivtv. I may try older versions of the drivers.

I have 2 computers running fedora core 5 and at one time they worked with sagetv. But I made the mistake of upgrading with 'yum update'.
Now they both experience same problem, I can't change channels (using keyboard or remote).

I'm using the ivtv rpm's from ATRPM.net

I've never been able to figure out why. I can't point a finger at Sagetv.
I recently tried a fresh install with same results.
Next I tried a fresh install with Mythtv and get the same problem.

What version of the ivtv drivers are you using?

I'm using ivtv-0.8.2 for 2.6.18 kernels.

If someone has this working with these drivers and kernel, please post.
