HD Preference over SD not working

Installed 6.015, because I really wanted the HD over SD preference for favorite recordings.

I set all of my favorites to record to any channel. About a third of them are listed in the scheduled recordings to record on an SD channel. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug? Is this working for everyone else?

I have my look ahead set to 7 days....

Not 100% sure yet. I have just gone back and set mine so that they are not locked to a channel. I had one that I know of that did indeed select HD instead of SD but that's it so far. I am going to leave them like they are now to see what happens.

I left it overnight as well to see if it changed them to the HD channel to record as it got closer to the recording time. I also thought about changing the look ahead to 1 day, then back to a longer time to see if that did the trick...
Or is it supposed to be immediate and show the proper HD channel in the upcoming recordings list as soon as you change it to "any' in the favorite manager?

Any help greatly appreciated especialy if this feature is working for others.

The release notes say HD is preferred over SD, so I don't think that means that HD will always get recorded instead of SD... are there HD shows set to record that caused some other HD airings to get bumped to the SD tuners? If the HD airings are not on at the exact same time, there may still be padding that caused them to overlap.

It will only prefer the DT channel if the show is marked as HD in the guide data.

Thanks for all the replies. Just 1 tuner for starchoice that has both HD and SD channels available. The shows that are not coming up as recording in HD are listed as HD in the guide. I don't think padding is the issue because I don't have any manual padding added to the recordings. I will check to be sure though. What is stranged of course is the exact same show, is on at the exact same time on the HD channel, but sage still is choosing the sd one....

Perhaps the feature only works for different encoders. For example I have one tuner that has the non digital version of NBC and another HD tuner that has the Digital version of NBC. Neither tuner has both channels available. So far it always prefers my HD tuner when the show is marked as HD. I don't know what would happen if I had both channels on the same encoder.

I'd submit as a bug report if I were you.

This won't work for me then since I am using XMLTV for my guide data.

The importer I'm using does not set the HD flag.

Just submitted a bug report. Sounds like they may not be taking into account having SD and HD channels on the same encoder. Starchoice is a bit unique in that the SD channels are sometimes very helpful to have listed in case there is a conflict with the other channels. The CTV SD channels play the same program sometimes on different days/times than the regular network feeds.
